OUR APPLICATIONS

There are three classifications of characters; Guests, Staff, and Inspectors. Each group plays an important part in the story, and none is better than any other. Guests are sequestered on the Estate (along with Staff if the Estate is their home) for the duration of the game, while Inspectors (and non-resident Staff) are free to come and go. Guests should, of course, have known their Host, but may or may not know each other, or the Staff. Staff should know the Host as well, and each other, but may or may not know the Guests or Inspectors. Inspectors may be familiar with the Host or Staff, but are asked not to have any history with the Guests.

These characters are intended to be original. You do not need to retain information from a version of the game or movie, such as first names, titles, occupations, relationships, etc. Your Host will never be Mr. Boddy, so when creating characters please simply bear in mind who your Host is, and create a character whom he or she would logically have known. Because each character is original, the moderator's job includes making sure that the cast is cohesive and can play well together. It's not uncommon for the moderator to work with applicants a little bit on characters, so if modifications are asked for, please don't be disheartened. This can include suggestions for PBs, so please be sure to check our banned PB list or feel free to ask before submitting.

The establishing of previous relationships is first come first serve, though we ask that you don't go overboard with whom your character is already acquainted with. If a character has elements of backstory that should be kept in mind when writing an application, there will be a notation on the characters page that asks you to e-mail your moderator for more information.

Each round of play will have 6-14 characters cast, roughly gender balanced, and requires at least one Inspector and one member of Staff to begin. Once we're ready to start, e-mails will be sent out letting all players know what "time" the Inspector will be arriving, and the game will begin!

Before applying please consult this post in our OOC community for information about the Estate, your Host, and his Murder.
